Local history is often a search for a needle in a haystack, sometimes a needle that isn't even there. People like Tara Cajacob can bring that history to life.
Tara has a major talent for mining documents and making connections and our Members benefit.
When there was a possibility that our museum's special event, World War II, would be cancelled, Tara responded with at least two dozen fresh ideas on how to keep the event going. She draws not only from her own experience, but is willing to take risks and try new things.
World War II Day is an annual event held at the Elk Grove History Museum each year however in 2016 various obstacles resulted in the event being canceled. We helped to plan the event and incorporated several new activities. Between the new activities and a grass roots marketing campaign, attendance at this event increased 250% from the previous year and was the museum’s most highly attended event on record.
In this project we cleaned and prepared various paper documents, removing charcoal dust, dirt and other debris and using a humidity system to flatten the papers before placing in polypropeline protectors and archival quality boxes and files.
We assisted the Minnesota Military Museum with a large-scale grant-funded cataloging initiative. This project included an inventory of the current collection of 75,000+ objects, including condition reports and rehousing of endangered objects. Then each object was photographed and cataloged in PastPerfect.
